
Rebuilding Energy Resilience Through Advanced Insulation Technology
As part of the UNIDO Green Industrial Recovery Initiative, Thermalytica deployed TIISA® Superinsulation Paint and TIISA® Insulation Sheets in Ukraine to improve thermal efficiency in critical medical facilities and district heating infrastructure during ongoing energy shortages caused by the war.
The Challenge
Energy Security During Wartime
Ukraine's energy infrastructure has suffered extensive damage, leaving hospitals, public facilities, and heating systems vulnerable during winter. Reliable heating has become essential not only for comfort, but also for maintaining healthcare services and protecting critical infrastructure. To support Ukraine's recovery efforts, Thermalytica participated in a UNIDO-supported mission to evaluate whether TIISA® technology could provide immediate and scalable energy-saving benefits under real operating conditions.
Ukraine's ongoing conflict has severely damaged energy infrastructure, leaving medical facilities and shelters without reliable heating during harsh winters. Under the UNIDO Green Industrial Recovery Initiative, Thermalytica deployed tiisa® Superinsulation Paint to two active medical facilities — a first-aid building in Kremenchuk and a clinic in Horenka Village — and TIISA® Insulation Sheets to a centralized heat supply pipeline. At the Kremenchuk first-aid building, the indoor-outdoor temperature differential improved from 5.8°C to 9.7°C after two coating layers, a 67% improvement in passive heat retention. At the Horenka Village clinic, the differential rose from 9.3°C to 15.9°C — a 71% improvement — even as outdoor temperatures dropped further after treatment. On the industrial heating pipeline, tiisa® Sheet achieved surface temperature reductions of 30.8–40.8%, roughly double the performance of the existing conventional insulation.

Centralized Heat Supply System
The tiisa® Sheet consistently achieved significantly larger inner-to-outer temperature differentials across all three measurement positions, with surface temperature reductions ranging from approximately 30.8% to 40.8% relative to the inner pipe temperature. In contrast, the existing conventional insulation material produced reductions of only 16.1% to 24.5%. This indicates that the tiisa® Sheet reduced heat loss to the surrounding environment at roughly double the effectiveness of the incumbent material under comparable operating conditions, representing a substantial performance advantage in centralized heat distribution infrastructure.
