A significant proportion of the world’s energy continues to be lost as waste heat. As energy demand accelerates through AI infrastructure, electrification and industrial growth, improving thermal efficiency is no longer simply an environmental objective, but a critical engineering challenge.

tiisa^® was developed in response to this challenge. Originally invented by the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and now commercialised by Thermalytica, tiisa^® is a silica aerogel material engineered to combine exceptionally low thermal conductivity with scalable manufacturing potential — overcoming limitations long associated with conventional aerogels.

Supported by public and industry funding, we are advancing mass production technologies and demonstration projects across applications including large scale building coatings, liquid hydrogen storage, home appliances and battery systems. As thermal efficiency becomes increasingly central to future infrastructure, we believe materials such as tiisa^® will play an essential role in reducing energy loss across industries.
